A stronger company, a stronger society
From building an inclusive, diverse company to promoting equality and inclusion in our communities, we recognize the value in welcoming different voices and perspectives. We also strive to empower everyone to create the financial lives they want. To achieve all of these objectives, we have policies and programs to advance the careers and businesses of various groups that can make unique contributions — like women, the LGBTQ+ community, service members and veterans, and individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Investing in women
We support women at Bank of America and out in the world to help them lead, create change and grow businesses.
We partner with organizations that connect women entrepreneurs to mentoring, capital and other tools that help advance their businesses and make significant contributions to our global economy.
Inside our company, we have active efforts to recruit, retain and promote women, who represent over 50% of our global workforce and over 45% of our management team. From our equal pay for equal work commitment to our philosophy on competitive compensation, we have created a culture where women’s pay is on average greater than 99% of that received by men across the U.S., UK, France, Ireland, Hong Kong and Singapore.

The LGBTQ+ community
Both in our company and in society, we’re committed to creating an environment where LGBTQ+ individuals are supported and included. From pioneering equal benefits for same-sex couples, sponsoring campaigns that promote inclusion, and having open dialogue among our employees, we're always assessing how to promote a progressive atmosphere.
Bank of America partners with Love Has No Labels, a groundbreaking movement that challenges us to judge less and accept more. Its message changes hearts by showing that we have more in common with others than we might think.
Service members and veterans
Service members are known for their leadership, dedication and adaptability. That’s why we have many programs and resources that recruit military service members and their spouses to help them thrive in the workforce and in their lives.
After completing our five-year goal of hiring 10,000 military veterans ahead of schedule, we continued with that momentum. We have hired more than 2,600 individuals with a military background, which is more than 15% of all U.S. external hires as of July 2022.
We also offer free online resources through BetterMoneyHabits.com to help military service members and their families make the transition to civilian life with courses focused on topics such as taxes, homebuying and retirement.
Another way we support the military is by increasing the number of financial centers focused on their needs. We currently have 52 upskilled financial centers near military installations with plans to expand to over 100 by the end of 2022.
Supporting people with disabilities
We recognize the unique contributions that individuals with intellectual disabilities can make to our company and our communities. As part of our dedication to having a diverse, inclusive company, we have employed individuals with intellectual disabilities on our Support Services team for decades.
We also make sure to create opportunities for customers with disabilities with our products and services. Plus, we partner with other organizations to promote independence and empowerment for people with intellectual disabilities around the world, like our decades-long Special Olympics partnership.
Around the world, Special Olympics empowers those with intellectual disabilities and their families, too. For three decades we’ve been a proud sponsor of this incredible organization and its success in highlighting the power of possibility that lies within each of us.
