Joseph Gianni appointed Hartford market president

Joe Gianni started his banking career in the 1980s and has become a well-known leader in Connecticut. He’ll play a more prominent role in the state as he was named Bank of America’s president for the greater Hartford market at the start of 2018.

As market president for Hartford, Gianni will continue to work across the region to connect businesses, families and individuals to Bank of America’s banking and investment teams. He will also lead the effort to direct the bank’s resources in the market and the region to address local priorities to help build strong communities.

We have a large company with a lot of moving parts, so my job is to facilitate the relationships and provide access to the talent we have in this organization.

In addition to his role as market president, Gianni serves on the government relations team, where he engages with public officials and local leaders on policy priorities. Previously, Gianni served as the Northeast region executive, overseeing local market activity throughout the Northeast. He has been with Bank of America and its predecessor banking institutions in Hartford since 1989.

“My job is going to be representing the Hartford market and all that goes along with that,” Gianni said. “We have a large company with a lot of moving parts, so my job is to facilitate the relationships and provide access to the talent we have in this organization.”

He succeeds Kevin J. Cunningham, who served as the bank’s market president for Connecticut and, later, for greater Hartford when the role was divided between Hartford and Fairfield County.

Gianni serves as the executive sponsor of the local Domestic Violence Task Force employee network, helping to raise awareness and educate teammates about the issue. He is also an active leader in the community, serving on the  boards of Foodshare, the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, the MetroHartford Alliance and Kingswood-Oxford School.
