Thousands of runners. Thousands of reasons to run.

As the presenting partner of the 128th Boston Marathon®, Bank of America is proud to highlight this year’s marathoners who ran for a cause. You can still give through May 15th if you haven’t already – and our sincere thanks to all those who have supported these runners and their causes so far.

Cedric running on a track

ACHILLES INTERNATIONAL
There is no challenge too big

After losing both his legs in combat, Cedric knows all too well what overcoming adversity means. He has already completed several marathons, adding another Boston Marathon® to his list. Cedric participated to benefit Achilles International which helps transform the lives of people with disabilities through athletic programs and social connection.

I lost both my legs in combat. But try telling my heart that.

EVERY MOTHER COUNTS
Better maternity care for all moms

After being medevac’d from her home in remote Alaska, Therese delivered her daughter two months premature. The lifesaving care they received is what inspired Therese to run this year’s Boston Marathon® for Every Mother Counts so all women everywhere have access to quality maternity care.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS MASSACHUSETTS
Pushing so we can all marathon

When Peter is not working as a Merrill, Wealth Management Advisor, he’s training for marathons. And at age 71, Peter has completed over 70 marathons pushing rider athletes as a duo team. In this year’s Boston Marathon®, Peter competed with his teammate Yousef, a Special Olympics Massachusetts athlete, to raise money for the organization.

ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL
Running to cure childhood cancer

As a 12-year-old diagnosed with cancer, Philip recalls the year he was unable to run and play outside. Now cancer free, he ran the 128th Boston Marathon® to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the same hospital that treated him and continues to treat kids with cancer today – kids hoping to just be kids again.

My marathon is for kids trying to outrun cancer. Just like I did once.
