Thousands Attend Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park 2017 Tree-Lighting Skate-tacular

Annual festivities feature performances by Jane Krakowski, Johnny Weir, and more

Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park kicked off the holiday season with its annual holiday tree-lighting event, complete with skating, musical performances, and holiday shopping.

This year’s event, narrated by Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actress, Jane Krakowski (30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), featured a stellar line up of live performances from Olympic and World champion skaters including Johnny Weir, Kimmie Meissner, Meryl Davis, Charlie White and Jeff Buttle, followed by ice skating for all.

Once again, the centerpiece of the evening was the original story, The Lights Before Christmas, narrated by Ms. Krakowski and featuring young Broadway star, Mattea Conforti (Matilda). Music performed by New York City’s premiere big band, Lapis Luna, provided a live soundtrack of Christmas classics for the skaters and story. After the tree was lit, onlookers were invited to lace up and skate along to a live Lapis Luna set of holiday songs in front of the glittering tree.

Highlighting both the celebratory spirit of the evening and Bank of America’s partnership with (RED), the Tree-Lighting Skate-tacular continued the tradition of honoring the efforts of (RED) and their mission to eradicate AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa. For four weeks during the holiday season, Winter Village guests visited a special pop-up shop, presented by Bank of America, where they window-shopped and ordered products to support (SHOPATHON)RED, (RED)’s annual shopping campaign. To support (RED)’s effort, Bank of America contributed the cost of a day of lifesaving medication for every dollar spent during the SHOPATHON, only on amazon.com, with a total contribution of $1.5 million.

Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park features a 17,000-square-foot ice-skating rink, a glass-enclosed eatery, and an open-air holiday market for holiday shopping under the glow of the city’s lights. Located at West 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue, Winter Village is adjacent to the New York Public Library and a short walk from Times Square and Grand Central Station. www.wintervillage.org
