How we’re boosting the fight against hunger in Asheville

We’re committed to supporting our employees’ health and safety and to addressing our local communities’ most critical needs. That’s why we donated $100 to local hunger-relief organizations for each Bank of America employee in the U.S. who let us know they’ve received a booster shot.

Through this effort, our team in Asheville recently presented MANNA FoodBank with a check for $25,000Footnote*. We’re proud to be able to help our community as we work together to move forward.

Let’s build something together

Bank of America’s growing team along the mountains of western North Carolina partners with local academic, business, government and nonprofit leaders that connect members of underserved communities with sustainable employment. This commitment to championing financial literacy and workforce development extends to developing young leaders through targeted education, mentorship, skills development and internship programs.

We also provide sponsorship and volunteer support to community partners that ensure our most vulnerable neighbors’ food, healthcare, housing and childcare needs are met — proudly evidenced by our donation of 40 million articles of PPE to local nonprofits during the global pandemic. To empower our teammates, we have developed new approaches to staying connected, both virtually and in person, and encourage each associate to reach their full potential by bringing their authentic self to work.

A boost for local employment in Asheville

The Skills Training Employment Program (STEP), a partnership between Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College and the Buncombe County Department of Health and Human Services, seeks to connect qualified candidates to open jobs, as well as provide training opportunities to local residents that want to reskill. Bank of America funds nearly half of the STEP program directly through grants as part of the bank’s $1.25 billion five-year commitment to advance racial equality and economic opportunity

Racial equality and economic opportunity

At Bank of America, we’re committed to addressing the root causes of inequality through a company-wide commitment to advancing racial equality and economic opportunity across diverse communities. We are doing this by building upon our existing efforts and leveraging our strengths: creating more affordable housing and expanding home ownership, increasing lending and support to minority-owned small businesses, championing job training and career readiness and addressing health disparities like access to care. We also know we can’t solve these challenges alone, so we’re partnering with other corporations, local nonprofits and community leaders across the country who share our vision for creating meaningful change.
