We're committed to supporting our employees' health and safety and to addressing our local communities' most critical needs. That's why we've donated to local hunger-relief organizations on behalf of each employee who received a COVID-19 vaccine or booster and/or a flu shot.* In addition, employees are doubling the impact of their personal donations to fight hunger with our matching gifts program.
Through this effort, our team in Reno recently presented Food Bank of Northern Nevada with a check for $25,000. We're proud to be able to help our community as we work together to move forward.
Andrew Diedrichsen | President, Bank of America Reno
Hear from Andrew Diedrichsen, President of Bank of America Reno, about our role in keeping Reno moving forward.
Bank of America is proud to serve The Biggest Little City in the World, and we have focused on supporting initiatives that drive workforce development and job creation throughout northern Nevada. To this end, we have partnered with local business leaders, economic development organizations, government agencies and community nonprofits to ensure Reno’s growth benefits all those who live and work here.
That’s why we have supported local academic institutions and nonprofit organizations that provide scholarships and internships to underserved youth and first-generation college students. To empower our small business community, we have offered mentorship and financial literacy training to local entrepreneurs. And to help our neighbors who are most in need, we have sponsored and provided volunteer support to organizations that address access to affordable healthcare, housing and food security across our service areas.
The Dean’s Future Scholars (DFS) program at the University of Nevada, Reno has made graduation a reality for many low-income, first-generation college students in the Reno/Sparks community. By providing one-on-one attention, the program has successfully served roughly 1,400 young people since its inception 20 years ago, nine out of 10 of them Black and Latino students. The results have been impressive, with 95% of participants graduating from high school over the past five years. Funding from Bank of America helps support this transformative, pre-college intensive program.
At Bank of America, we’re committed to addressing the root causes of inequality through a company-wide commitment to advancing racial equality and economic opportunity across diverse communities. We are doing this by building upon our existing efforts and leveraging our strengths: creating more affordable housing and expanding home ownership, increasing lending and support to minority-owned small businesses, championing job training and career readiness and addressing health disparities like access to care. We also know we can’t solve these challenges alone, so we’re partnering with other corporations, local nonprofits and community leaders across the country who share our vision for creating meaningful change.
At Bank of America, we believe in the power of the arts to help economies thrive, educate and enrich societies, and create greater cultural understanding. That’s why we’re helping the arts flourish in communities across the globe.
