Trident is a value-oriented private equity firm focused on taking control positions in US-based small businesses across three core sectors: Industrials, Consumer, and Healthcare. We generally target companies that do $10-100mm in revenues and $2-20mm in EBITDA. Trident’s competitive advantage is in its systematic approach to sourcing and diligence of small business opportunities and the incorporation of proprietary technology to make the investment process scalable and repeatable. To execute on this strategy, Trident exclusively partners with Independent Sponsor Operating Partners (ISOPs) who are seasoned operators / investors with proven track records in their respective markets, serving as engaged and thoughtful operating partners with aligned incentives to create optimal outcomes. Trident’s strategy also encompasses reducing the racial wealth gap through investment in people and opportunities by using a post-transaction playbook that leverages diversity, equity and inclusion to amplify commercial outcomes (IRR and MOIC) for our Limited Partners and social outcomes for communities.

Trident has 5 active portfolio companies (1 exited) that represent all three core sectors, and recently launched the Trident American Dreams Fund I ($250mm target) to continue to take advantage of what we believe is the most untapped market opportunity in US private equity—Small Business. The Fund targets to have ~10 deals with an average check size of $25M with a 5 year investment period. Trident was founded by Eric Taylor in 2017 after spending his career in the Goldman Sachs Special Situations Group and Brightwood Capital. Eric has an AB from Harvard University and is a CFA Charterholder. Trident is both black-owned and women-led.
