Hear from Gerri Moll, President of Bank of America Southwest Florida, about our role in keeping Southwest Florida moving forward.
Southwest Florida continues to be a wonderful place for tourism and retirement, but we also have our fair share of challenges. We're tackling them head-on by partnering with nonprofits, corporations and colleges to create career pathways leading to a skilled and sustainable workforce pipeline for our low-income population. We're part of a coalition that's connecting an untapped workforce, including high school students, with the education and training to fill in-demand jobs in fields like healthcare, construction, electric, plumbing and more. We also fund a fantastic nonprofit initiative that provides free dental care to patients with no insurance. And we're addressing food insecurities by supporting programs that provide hot meals and snacks to school-age children.
Recognizing the gap between the number of local jobs that require post-high school certificates or degrees and the number of residents with those credentials, FutureMakers Coalition in Southwest Florida provides reskilling, training and career development resources to those who need it. The project is graduating sought-after, skilled workers suited for high-demand positions—and helping remove financial barriers that might prevent participants from completing their programs.
At Bank of America, we’re committed to addressing the root causes of inequality through a company-wide commitment to advancing racial equality and economic opportunity across diverse communities. We are doing this by building upon our existing efforts and leveraging our strengths: creating more affordable housing and expanding home ownership, increasing lending and support to minority-owned small businesses, championing job training and career readiness and addressing health disparities like access to care. We also know we can’t solve these challenges alone, so we’re partnering with other corporations, local nonprofits and community leaders across the country who share our vision for creating meaningful change.
At Bank of America, we believe in the power of the arts to help economies thrive, educate and enrich societies, and create greater cultural understanding. That’s why we’re helping the arts flourish in communities across the globe.
