Student Leaders

Since 2004, our Student Leaders® program has helped prepare high school students for the workforce by connecting them to skills development and leadership training. Through paid internships with local nonprofits like New Memphis, they gain practical work and life experiences. It's just one more way we're working to build a better future for all.

Let’s build something together

Bank of America partners with academic, corporate, government and nonprofit leaders to drive economic advancement in Memphis. We support high-performing organizations, which provide innovation capital, mentorship and skills development programs that prepare our neighbors for the marketplace of the future.

In this hub of entrepreneurship, we help small business owners thrive through expanded access to funding, financial education and technical assistance. We also support initiatives that advance neighborhood revitalization and challenge barriers to home ownership. We are dedicated to leading racial equality initiatives – including convening conversations regarding diversity and inclusion within Memphis’ business ecosystem.

“My marathon is for kids trying to outrun cancer. Just like I did once.”

As a 12-year-old with cancer, Philip spent a year looking out a Memphis hospital window, wishing he could just be outside running around again. Now cancer-free, he completed the 128th Boston Marathon® for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the same hospital that treated him and continues to treat kids with cancer today.

More inclusive training: the code for success

In Memphis, a six-month bootcamp called Code School helps young adults from underserved communities get the coding education they need to qualify for careers in software development. Begun in July 2018 by CodeCrew, a local technology education nonprofit, this full-time program teaches the skills necessary to become a software developer, then partners with local employers looking for tech talent — emphasizing support of African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos and women and girls.

Being a great place to work has its rewards. And awards.

Because of our investments in industry-leading programs and resources, and our commitment to helping teammates achieve their personal and professional goals, we were awarded the Grand Stevie Award for Organization of the Year. *

* The Stevie Awards recognize the achievements of businesses and professionals worldwide. Organizations self-nominate, providing data for various categories, and winners are determined by the average scores of more than 240 professionals worldwide serving as judges.

** For the annual Rankings, JUST Capital collects and analyzes corporate data to evaluate the 1,000 largest public U.S. companies across 20 issues identified through comprehensive, ongoing public opinion research on Americans' attitudes toward responsible corporate behavior. In determining the top 10 companies for workers, JUST Capital used its Workers Leaders Index which tracks the top 20% of companies in its annual Rankings that perform the best across the five worker related issues evaluated. https://justcapital.com
