local spotlight
We're committed to supporting our employees' health and safety and to addressing our local communities' most critical needs. That's why we've donated to local hunger-relief organizations on behalf of each employee who received a COVID-19 vaccine or booster and/or a flu shot.* In addition, employees are doubling the impact of their personal donations to fight hunger with our matching gifts program.
Through this effort, our team in the Lowcountry recently presented Lowcountry Food Bank with a check for $25,000. We're proud to be able to help our community as we work together to move forward.

Meeting the needs of underserved communities in Charleston and Hilton Head means taking an all-encompassing approach. To make a real difference, we're providing grants in key areas to address education, housing, health and employment needs. We’re concentrating on workforce development, particularly for youth programs in predominantly Black/African-American areas. Other grants are helping nonprofits scale up work for entrepreneurs and help minority-owned businesses as they deal with day-to-day challenges, on top of those spurred by the pandemic. Exciting initiatives are in the works to provide summer youth employment and apprenticeships for our Title 1 students by giving them meaningful, paid employment and a chance at a long-term career with scalable income.
At Bank of America, we’re committed to addressing the root causes of inequality through a company-wide commitment to advancing racial equality and economic opportunity across diverse communities. We are doing this by building upon our existing efforts and leveraging our strengths: creating more affordable housing and expanding home ownership, increasing lending and support to minority-owned small businesses, championing job training and career readiness and addressing health disparities like access to care. We also know we can’t solve these challenges alone, so we’re partnering with other corporations, local nonprofits and community leaders across the country who share our vision for creating meaningful change.
The job skills gap has disproportionately affected Black and Latino individuals – and this disparity has been compounded by the coronavirus. To help address this gap, Bank of America works with local nonprofits, employers and broader networks across the country to support skills-training programs that meet the specific workforce demands of local communities. The result is a diverse talent pipeline for employers – and a clear path to employment for individuals.
At Bank of America, we believe in the power of the arts to help economies thrive, educate and enrich societies, and create greater cultural understanding. That’s why we’re helping the arts flourish in communities across the globe.
