Taking action to support our communities, clients and teammates

Now as always, our commitment to help strengthen the communities we serve is unwavering. We’re partnering with local leaders and organizations to address critical needs, and to advance racial equality and economic opportunity. We’re collaborating with companies and working with skill-building partners to help people succeed in today’s and tomorrow’s economy. And we’re doing our part to help people stay healthy — including investing in benefits and resources for our employees who serve our clients in their communities.

Let’s build something together

Meeting the needs of underserved communities in Charleston and Hilton Head means taking an all-encompassing approach. To make a real difference, we're providing grants in key areas to address education, housing, health and employment needs. We’re concentrating on workforce development, particularly for youth programs in predominantly Black/African-American areas. Other grants are helping nonprofits scale up work for entrepreneurs and help minority-owned businesses as they deal with day-to-day challenges, on top of those spurred by the pandemic. Exciting initiatives are in the works to provide summer youth employment and apprenticeships for our Title 1 students by giving them meaningful, paid employment and a chance at a long-term career with scalable income.

Meeting the growing demand for a square meal

In the face of the pandemic, Feeding America has seen the need for food assistance rise by 70% across the country. To support our nation’s largest domestic hunger relief charity in providing critical assistance, we gave Feeding America a $1 million grant and more than $15 million to its partner organizations.

We remain committed to supporting you with your financial needs during the health crisis. Of course, nothing is more important than your health and safety, and we have taken multiple steps to minimize health risks, based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention. These steps we have taken in our financial centers include enhancing the daily cleaning procedures, implementing plastic screens and distancing markers, following local restrictions on the number of clients that can enter a financial center at one time, and requiring our employees to wear masks. In addition, we are requiring clients wear masks when visiting our financial centers.

We make customers our first priority.
