Student Leaders

Since 2004, our Student Leaders® program has helped prepare high school students for the workforce by connecting them to skills development and leadership training. Through paid internships with local nonprofits like Black BRAND, Horizons Hampton Roads and The Mariner's Museum, they gain practical work and life experiences. It's just one more way we're working to build a better future for all.

Electric vehicle charging

We're always looking for ways to support people's choices in the communities we serve. That's why Bank of America is adding charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) to over 90 financial centers nationwide. For our customers who are interested, we have financing for EVs and charging accessories. And we're also supporting the choices our teammates make with employee rebates on EVs.

Let’s build something together

The presence now owned and operated by Bank of America in Hampton Roads traces its local history back more than 150 years. To support economic opportunity in the 17 municipalities that comprise our modern footprint, we have created a workforce development cohort of academic, business and nonprofit leaders that provide pathways for local students to sustainable healthcare careers.

To support our small business community, we partner with economic development entities to expand access to capital and financial literacy mentorship for Black entrepreneurs. In addition, we help drive community revitalization initiatives to advance affordable housing and healthcare options for our neighbors in need.

Addressing employment inequality

The South Hampton Roads region of Virginia has an unemployment rate below the national, and the majority of unemployed residents are African American and Hispanic-Latino. Tidewater Community College (TCC), a community partner since 1968, is committed to addressing these inequities by providing job and skills-based training, tapping the resources of its Center for Workforce Solutions to help people from all backgrounds prepare for high-quality jobs.

Racial equality and economic opportunity

At Bank of America, we’re committed to addressing the root causes of inequality through a company-wide commitment to advancing racial equality and economic opportunity across diverse communities. We are doing this by building upon our existing efforts and leveraging our strengths: creating more affordable housing and expanding home ownership, increasing lending and support to minority-owned small businesses, championing job training and career readiness and addressing health disparities like access to care. We also know we can’t solve these challenges alone, so we’re partnering with other corporations, local nonprofits and community leaders across the country who share our vision for creating meaningful change.
