The health crisis hasn’t created the gaps in our society; it’s widened them. We’re grateful for organizations that have a long history of serving residents in need and are responding to the increased challenges so many members of our community are facing in this moment.

Let’s build something together

As Charlotte’s local market president, I get to help our clients, employees and community thrive in our region. I oversee the bank’s work connecting individuals, families, and businesses to resources that make their financial lives better from Iredell County, N.C. to Chester County, S.C. I’m also charged with helping strengthen economic opportunity through social responsibility efforts, which as we know are absolutely essential to the Charlotte market at this time. These initiatives, like supporting workforce development, education and affordable housing, allow us to all come together as neighbors and partners toward a better Charlotte market.

Helping graduates land a job

When the local job market in Mecklenburg County continued to rise even during the Covid-19 pandemic, Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) responded to the local workforce demands, designing curriculums around the specific jobs in the highest growth sectors of the local economy. Bank of America partnered with CPCC to help provide Black and Hispanic/Latino students with scholarships to match PELL grants, which go to students demonstrating a financial need for tuition assistance.

Within days, 170 donors and various non-profits came together to raise more than $270,000, which helped 300 families in the area.

We remain committed to supporting you with your financial needs during the health crisis. Of course, nothing is more important than your health and safety, and we have taken multiple steps to minimize health risks, based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention. These steps we have taken in our financial centers include enhancing the daily cleaning procedures, implementing plastic screens and distancing markers, following local restrictions on the number of clients that can enter a financial center at one time, and requiring our employees to wear masks. In addition, we are requiring clients wear masks when visiting our financial centers.
