Going green for the Shamrock Shuffle

To say Samantha Garcia is excited to participate in the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle for the first time is an understatement.

“I’m looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere of the day in a way that I never have before and to take in the energy of the city with my fellow colleagues and family,” said Garcia.

Samantha is an Officer, Leadership Development Analyst for Consumer & Small Business at Bank of America and one of 300 Bank of America employees participating in the race.

Whether running, walking or volunteering, it’s important for Bank of America employees to participate in the Shamrock Shuffle because it creates a spirit of camaraderie and sense of community.

She is participating in the two-mile untimed walk, a feature of the event that was added last year, with her stepdaughter Bryanne while her husband and stepson run the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K. Samantha and Bryanne plan to fully lean in to the whimsy of the day and have already planned their outfits for race day, including colorful green necklaces, rings and large inflatable hats.

Garcia is a Navy veteran and a member of Bank of America’s Military Support and Assistance Group (MSAG). Throughout her four years of participation in the MSAG employee network, she has volunteered with the annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon. This year, she is thrilled to participate in the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle and experience the excitement of the two-mile walking course firsthand.

“Whether running, walking or volunteering, Bank of America employees and their families participate in the Shamrock Shuffle to help create a spirit of camaraderie and sense of community,” said Garcia.

A resident of Mundelein, Garcia frequently utilizes Chicago’s Lakefront Trail with her family and says the Shamrock Shuffle will jump-start their spring outdoor fitness activity. Garcia encourages all runners and walkers alike to take time to enjoy the day and the beauty of the city.

“Whether you’re participating in the Shamrock Shuffle 8K or two-mile walk, we all have our own challenges to overcome, but we’ll all be crossing the finish line together,” said Garcia.
