Increasing access to affordable housing for veterans in Minnesota

HomeAid Twin Cities, a program of the BATC–Housing First Minnesota
Foundation, received a generous donation from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation through HomeAid America this year.

“Economic opportunity begins with the ability to live and work in vibrant communities, including access to safe, quality housing,” said Katie Simpson, Bank of America’s Minneapolis–St. Paul market president. “We’re proud to partner with HomeAid and further our mutual commitment to fighting homelessness and supporting local veterans — both of which drive sustainable economic growth here in the Twin Cities.”

Bank of America presented the charitable organization with a check for $10,000 to help fund the building of a five-bedroom home for the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV). The brand-new home is MACV’s first home that supports homeless veterans along with their families.

“The generous donation from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation was greatly appreciated,” said Bob Bennett, manager of HomeAid Twin Cities/BATC–Housing First Minnesota Foundation. “It helped us build the new MACV home, which will support veteran-headed families for years to come.”

Bank of America has been a steadfast supporter of HomeAid America since 2004. Over the past 13 years, the bank has contributed more than $2.5 million to HomeAid America and HomeAid chapters.

Bank of America focuses on economic mobility by addressing community development needs through investments including affordable housing. The vibrancy and health of each community has a direct impact on the long-term success of its residents. That is why the bank and its partners are addressing critical issues to ensure that communities are resilient and poised for growth.
