Student Leaders

Since 2004, our Student Leaders® program has helped prepare high school students for the workforce by connecting them to skills development and leadership training. Through paid internships with local nonprofits like United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona, they gain practical work and life experiences. It's just one more way we're working to build a better future for all.

Hear from Adriana Kong Romero, President of Bank of America Tucson, about our role in keeping Tucson moving forward.

Let’s build something together

Building a stronger community in Tucson begins with breaking down barriers that prevent economic mobility for people, especially those in communities of color. Workforce development and building job skills is a foundational need, and Bank of America is taking action to make a difference here. We’re working with our local college and university partners along with other organizations to help reskill and retrain for today’s in-demand jobs and careers. Along with our retail bank presence, our digital banking services are providing the convenience and easy-access needs of our customers and business clients. Through the challenging times we face, we remain committed to building our community.

Preparing students for the new workforce

When fewer than 16% of its majority-minority enrollment was able to complete a degree or certificate within six years, Tucson’s Pima Community College launched PimaFastTrack. This jobs initiative focuses on students of color —a population disproportionately affected by the pandemic-led economic downturn. Aimed at giving students access to careers that pay a family-sustaining wage, PimaFastTrack partners with local employers to identify in-demand jobs. The initiative arranges training and apprenticeships in fields including advanced industrial technology, automotive technology, building and construction technology, cyber security/IT and certification as an emergency medical technician.

Supporting economic opportunity for diverse people & communities

At Bank of America, we have a long-standing commitment to support economic opportunity for diverse people and communities. We are doing this by building upon our existing efforts and leveraging our strengths: creating more affordable housing and expanding home ownership, increasing lending and support to minority-owned small businesses, championing job training and career readiness and addressing health disparities like access to care. We continue to focus on working collaboratively across sectors to advance opportunities that will create real impact in the lives of individuals and for the communities we serve, using the past to inform our perspective and understanding as we tackle barriers within our communities.

** For the annual Rankings, JUST Capital collects and analyzes corporate data to evaluate the 1,000 largest public U.S. companies across 20 issues identified through comprehensive, ongoing public opinion research on Americans' attitudes toward responsible corporate behavior.
