Awards and recognition: See how our environmental commitment is being recognized

Our environmental efforts have been recognized by various external organizations and media around the world. We are honored to receive these awards. Here are some of the most recent:


  • Bank of America received the ACORE Renewable Energy Leadership Award. The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) is a national nonprofit organization that unites finance, policy and technology to accelerate the transition to a renewable energy economy. ACORE’s Renewable Energy Leadership Award honors companies that have made outstanding contributions to growing the renewable energy economy. The award celebrates support of the U.S. renewables sector.
  • Bank of America received an Innovative Partnership Certificate at the Climate Leadership Awards for its partnership with American Forests on the organization’s Community ReLeaf program. The program helps protect, promote, restore and expand urban forest ecosystems around the country.
  • Bank of America received the 2019 PR News CSR Award for Employee Relations. The recognition highlighted its employee program called My Environment® and the bank’s commitment to empowering employees to become better environmental stewards.


  • No. 3 on the Fortune Change the World list and top global bank
  • Honored as the 2018 Corporate Conservation Leader by The Nature Conservancy (TNC). Bank of America has a forty year partnership with TNC, working together to address some of the world’s most pressing environmental and conservation challenges.
  • Recognized for ESG leadership on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). For the sixth consecutive year Bank of America placed on the DJSI’s North American Index and for the fifth year listed on its World Index. The DJSI is a global ranking based on an evaluation of a company’s economic, environmental and social performance. It covers metrics, policies and programs related to a number of issues including corporate governance, environmental business risks and opportunities, human capital development and financial inclusion.
  • Euromoney's 2018 Awards of Excellence: Bank of America recognized as the “world’s best bank” and receives top honors in a total of 13 categories in the publication’s annual Global Awards for Excellence competition. In the sustainable finance section, Bank of America was recognized as North America’s best bank for sustainable finance.
  • The Asset Magazine recognized Bank of America Merrill Lynch for the third year in a row as the Best Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Bank in Asia. This award honors the financial institution which has best demonstrated its commitment to responsible finance, ethical business engagement and social awareness.
  • GlobalCapital recognized Bank of America at its Sustainable and Responsible Capital Markets Awards dinner for the issuance of the bank’s fourth corporate green bond, issued in May for $2.25 billion. The publication honored the bank with the 2018 North American Green/SRI Bond Deal of the Year Award which is voted on by market participants.
  • Recipient of the 2018 Momentum for Change award presented by the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat and The Climate Group. Recognized for the bank’s leadership in the Catalytic Finance Initiative.
  • awarded the bank its Editor’s Choice Award for ESG Commitment, citing the bank as a strong proponent of environmental and sustainability efforts in both its own practices and through supporting partners and clients. The online organization shared how our sustainability work extends beyond climate finance and accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy to supporting environmentally focused nonprofits and helping employees become better environmental stewards.
  • Named to the CDP climate change A List, which recognized 139 businesses across the globe for their efforts in addressing climate change. This is the eighth year that Bank of America has been named to the CDP climate change leadership index.


  • Euromoney's 2017 Awards of Excellence: Recognize Bank of America for its global leadership in corporate social responsibility and advisory with top honors in 11 categories.
  • CDP: Named to the CDP Climate A list for leadership in greenhouse gas emissions management and reporting for the seventh year. Bank of America was also recognized by CDP as one of 29 companies listed on the organization’s first Supplier Engagement Leader Board.
  • Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI): DJSI again recognized our company for our ESG efforts, marking the third year to be named to the World Index and the fifth consecutive year we were named to the North America Index.
  • U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA): Bank of America was ranked #5 on both the Green Power Partnership Top 100 and the Green Power Partnership Fortune 500 Partners List.
