Expressing our thanks in NYC during Fleet Week

Aug 15, 2014

New York City welcomed thousands of sea service members just a few days before Memorial Day for Fleet Week, marking the perfect opportunity for passersby—and people around the world—to take a moment to thank our troops for their service.

Hundreds of New Yorkers and visitors from out of town stopped by the Bank of America booth to write a message of support and have their picture taken, which they could then see on a massive digital billboard in the heart of Times Square.

“Fleet Week gives New York City a chance to see what a sailor, marine, or coastguardsman is like,” said Rear Admiral Sandra Stosz, Superintendent, U.S. Coast Guard Academy. “It links us together as a society.”

For everyone who participated in the event, Bank of America donated $1 to Welcome Back Veterans and Wounded Warrior Project – two military nonprofits dedicated to helping our service members succeed here at home. The experience was fun, inspiring, and an incredible way to get to know each other.

Our Express Your Thanks Campaign runs through Veterans Day. Together, we can donate up to $1 million for Wounded Warrior Project and Welcome Back Veterans. Join us in our efforts by leaving your own message of support here:
