Participants went Green at the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K

Apr 25, 2016

The 37th Annual Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K welcomed thousands of runners to its starting line in Grant Park on Sunday, April 3. The race offered runners a unique opportunity to tour Chicago’s loop, complete with architectural wonders and flat streets, on foot.

After a long, cold winter, the Shamrock Shuffle helps cheer up the people of the city by kicking off the spring running season and keeping the St. Patrick’s Day spirit alive. The race welcomed participants ranging from Olympic-caliber athletes, to those targeting the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in October, to beginners looking for an enjoyable and festive way to spend a Sunday with friends. The result was a fun-filled race weekend celebrating health, warmer weather and Chicago’s vibrant running community.

With a majority of Shamrock Shufflers coming from Chicago and its surrounding suburbs, the popular road race has become a fixture for the city’s running community and one of the most enjoyable ways for participants, spectators and volunteers to celebrate the change of season.

The two-day Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K Health & Fitness Expo took place at McCormick Place on Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2. The Health & Fitness Expo featured more than 80 industry-related exhibitors, unique photo opportunities, contests and prizes.
