As a Neighborhood Builder®, you will participate in a two-year leadership development program, where you will connect with other established nonprofit organizations and leaders. In addition, you will receive a grant to further capacity creation for your nonprofit. Neighborhood Builders® will be asked to share their learnings back with their community and participate in both sides of a mentoring program.
To become a Neighborhood Builder®:
- You must be a recognized 501(C)(3) nonprofit by the IRS
- The total grant amount cannot exceed 10% of your organization’s most recent annual revenue. Neighborhood Builders® awards range from $100,000 to $400,000 paid over two years.
- For example, an organization with $1 million in annual revenue would be eligible for an award of $100,000 paid over 2 years.
- Serve communities in these markets
- Have filed taxes with the IRS for each of the last two fiscal years and be financially sound
- Have at least a three-year plan to advance the impact of your nonprofit’s mission
- Be able to participate in a two-year leadership training program for both your nonprofit Executive Director/President/CEO and an Emerging Leader
- Have an Executive Director/President/CEO and an Emerging Leader that have been at the organization for at least two years (in role)
- Agree to return your learnings to your community and nonprofit team
- Not have received grant funding from Bank of America Neighborhood Builders® or Champions program on or after October 2019
- 2026 awardees must align to the following funding areas
- Stable housing: Creation and preservation of affordable housing, long-term rental housing, and home ownership opportunities.
- Income Creation: Workforce development, advancing entrepreneurship, and financial resilience.
