FAQs for Bank of America Student Leaders®
How do I apply for the Bank of America Student Leaders program?
Eligible students can apply online at www.bankofamerica.com/studentleaders by selecting Apply Now when the application opens October 14, 2024. The application will close January 15, 2025.
Who is eligible for the Student Leaders program?
To become a Student Leader, you must:
- Currently be a junior or senior in high school
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship through the end of September 2025
- Be able to participate in an 8-week paid internship at a local nonprofit/charitable organization and work 35 hours a week
- Be able to participate in a week-long Student Leaders Summit in Washington, DC (July 21-26, 2025)
- Note: All expenses paid as part of the program and the week is counted within the 8-week experience
- Be a student in good standing at your school
- Permanently reside in one of the eligible locations
- Have not been previously selected for the program
- Note: Students who applied in a previous year and were not selected can reapply if they meet other eligibility criteria
- Not be a Bank of America employee or immediate family member of a Bank of America employee (e.g., children, siblings, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc.)
What is the deadline for submitting my Student Leaders application?
The deadline for submitting your application for the 2025 program year is 11:59 pm eastern time/ 8:59 pm pacific on Wednesday, January 15. There are no exceptions to this deadline and extensions will not be granted, please plan accordingly for potential challenges due to weather, technology, or other circumstances. Note, submission processing time can be delayed into the final hours before the deadline so please submit early and don’t wait until the last minute.
How do I return to an unsubmitted application to continue working on it?
Make note of your login ID and your password, so that you can return to the application and complete it later. You may return to the application directly by going to http://www.cybergrants.com/boa/slselection/
I am locked out of my CyberGrants account, can you please reset my password?
We do not have access to any account information including passwords and log in credentials. Please contact CyberGrants directly at cgsupport@cybergrants.com
I have submitted an application online – when can I expect to receive an update on its status?
We anticipate that all Student Leaders applicants are notified via the email provided in their application by April 2025.
Will I be contacted to schedule a Student Leader interview?
Markets that decide to conduct interviews will do so before the end of March, but not all markets will choose to have interviews.
How do I find the request ID for my application?
The request ID is included in the confirmation email sent to you after successful submission of your application. This email will be sent from do_not_reply@cybergrants.com Please add them to your address book or check your spam for that email.
Is a letter of recommendation required as part of the application?
One letter of recommendation is required as part of the application. That letter must be:
- From an administrator/teacher/guidance counselor or coach at the student’s current school.
- On school letterhead
- Signed by the recommender
- In an unencrypted pdf format
- Submitted with your application by the application deadline on January 15 OR through the link by end of day on January 16 (the application is still due on January 15)
Any application that does not include the required letter of recommendation will be disqualified from consideration. For the full letter requirements please see the Recommendation Fact Sheet.
My school has a policy that does not allow a teacher/administrator/coach to provide me with a letter of recommendation. It must go to the school/program directly. What do I do in this case?
In your application you will be asked for the contact information for your recommender. Once your application is successfully submitted, your recommender will receive an email (sent from do_not_reply@cybergrants.com) that will include a link and your request ID. The recommender should follow that link to upload your letter. Please note – they will need your request ID to do so. Request IDs are generated after your application is submitted and will be emailed to you and to your recommender.
All letters submitted through the link must be received no later than 11:59 pm EST on January 15, 2025. All applications are still due by 11:59 pm eastern on Wednesday, January 15 regardless of how the letter is submitted. Late letters and applications will not be accepted. Be sure to share this information with your recommender so that they are aware of the process. Please refer to the recommendation fact sheet for additional information.
Is a resume required as part of my application?
No, a resume is not required. However, you do have the option to include one with your application. Should you choose to include your resume, please limit it to no more than two pages.

If I am selected for the program, will I be working for Bank of America?
If you are selected for the Student Leader program, your internship will be at a nonprofit organization that is local to you. These organizations are partners of the Bank and are selected by Bank of America.
How long will my internship last?
It is an 8-week program, inclusive of the week spent at the Student Leaders Summit in Washington, DC.
When will my internship begin?
Internship start dates vary by market. You can expect your internship to begin shortly following the end of your school year. The internship will run for 8 weeks and includes the week in DC.
Is participation in the Student Leaders Summit mandatory?
Yes. If you are unable to participate in the summit in full, you are ineligible for the Student Leaders program. The 2025 Summit will be held in Washington, DC July 21-26.
Is there a cost to me to attend the Student Leader Summit?
The cost to attend the Student Leaders Summit is paid for by Bank of America, this includes baggage fees, travel to and from Washington, DC, hotel accommodations, and all meals. Students only need to pay for their own souvenirs and incidentals.
Should you be selected as a Student Leader additional information about your internship and the Student Leaders Summit will be available to you at that time.
