Chicago Parks Foundation joins the Shamrock Shuffle to celebrate community

This year, long-time partner of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, the Chicago Parks Foundation (CPF), joined the Shamrock Shuffle 8K as an official charity partner. The Shamrock Shuffle has a one-of-a-kind course that passes through historic Grant Park and Chicago’s lakefront trail allowing runners, spectators and volunteers alike to enjoy some of the city’s more than 8,500 acres of green space.

Established in 2013, CPF is the official charitable partner of the Chicago Park District, helping the city raise funds for its park programs and projects through a variety of campaigns, events and sponsorships.

The bank has helped us introduce the Chicago Parks Foundation to the local community and show the importance of giving back to the parks.

The unique public-private partnership between CPF and the Chicago Park District invokes a truly independent but collaborative spirit to improve and build upon urban green space within the city. Through the partnership’s support of more than 600 parks, 230 field houses, 29 beaches, 26 miles of lakefront, 11 harbors, eight golf courses and two world-class conservatories, nearly every Chicago resident lives within a 10-minute walk of a park.

“It’s important for local organizations to get involved with community events like the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle to help build a pathway to improve all the great things that Chicago can offer its residents,” said Willa Lang, Executive Director, at Chicago Parks Foundation. “By supporting this race and the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, we’re creating and cultivating relationships with the community to help ensure that every Chicagoan can share an equal sense of pride and ownership of the power of our parks.”

CPF is eager and enthusiastic to begin its inaugural year as a charity partner for the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K and 2-mile walk.

“We’re very grateful for Bank of America’s partnership and the opportunities presented through both the Chicago Marathon and Shamrock Shuffle,” said Lang. “The bank has helped us introduce CPF to the local community and show the importance of giving back to the parks.”
