The charity arm of Bank of America has awarded $10,000 to a Clark County nonprofit that provides home ownership education and financial literacy coaching to residents.

The money awarded to the Neighborhood Housing Partnership of Greater Springfield is part of the Bank of America Charitable Foundation's initiative to support long-term sustainability programs in communities across Ohio.

Money recently awarded to the Neighborhood Housing Partnership is part of $1.4 million in grants awarded by Bank of America. The most recent round of grants from the bank's charitable arm focused on economic mobility and social progress through investments in affordable housing, community revitalization, the arts and the environment, according to the news release.

"Addressing community needs through our philanthropic investments is just one way we deploy capital to help build a more sustainable community," said Jeneen Marziani, Bank of America's Ohio state president. "We're honored to partner with nonprofit organizations like Neighborhood Housing Partnership across Ohio that are helping to advance economic and social progress, in particular for vulnerable populations."

The Neighborhood Housing Partnership, which formed in 2002, works to increase and preserve home ownership in Clark County through promoting development and rehabilitation of housing.

"We partner with Bank of America to be able to provide comprehensive home ownership support -- from getting ready to purchase a home to buying and maintaining a home," said Greg Womacks, acting executive director of the Clark County nonprofit.

"This support from Bank of America helps us lay a foundation for the individuals and families who dream of owning their own home and have no idea where to start. As a trusted advisor, we provide group education and individual financial coaching, so they have the necessary knowledge and tools to make their dream a reality," he added.
