Small business owners: New hiring slows but optimism still high

Bank of America’s spring Small Business Owner Report found small business owners in North Texas plan to hire new employees this year but remain optimistic about the overall economy.

The survey showed that 39 percent of small employers plan to hire in the next year, down from the 57 percent planning to hire a year ago. Mike Pavell, president of the Fort Worth market for Bank of America, tells the Star-Telegram the bank’s clients continue to “show strength in commercial real estate, residential housing and manufacturing.”
