Hard at Work in Kansas
Bank of America began serving Kansas more than 120 years ago. George Strong founded Fourth National Bank in Wichita in 1887, and then expanded to Meade and other cities throughout the state. Fourth National was instrumental in building Fairmount Ladies College, which eventually became part of Wichita State University. It joined the Bank of America family in 1996 after merging with Boatmen’s Bank of St. Louis. Today, Bank of America is one of the nation’s largest financial institutions and provides services to half of all American households.
*Extended $39.5 million in new credit to Kansas small businesses in 2012.
