Title: The Global Ambassadors Program
A Vital Voices & Bank of America Sponsorship
Alyse: Two years after the earthquake in Haiti, the country still faces tremendous challenges.
Super: Alyse Nelson
President and CEO
Vital Voices Global Partnership
Alyse: Women currently only hold 3% of the seats of parliament, so they have very little voice in the decision-making process of their country. But what we know is that women offer tremendous solutions to some of the greatest challenges that countries face around the world.
Super: Anne Finucane
Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer
Bank of America
Anne: There is no place one would want to live, there is no society that succeeded without fundamental leadership—and leadership doesn’t just happen; It requires mentoring, it requires time, it requires investment.
Maria: Out of the rubble of the 2010 earthquake, Haiti is rising.
Super: Maria Bello
Global Ambassador
USA
Maria: Over the last few months we’ve seen 315 different focus groups all throughout the country to come up with a 20 point platform regarding infrastructure, economics, health, education and wellbeing.
Marie: We have 3000 people that were questioned by their leaders asking them, “What do you think your community needs to go forward?”
Super: Marie CarmelleLarochele
Executive Director, Femmes en Democratie
Haiti
Marie: We have all that put together and we will present the platform to the president telling him, “Okay, this is what your people are asking for.”
Super: Florence Chenoweth
Global Ambassador
Liberia
Florence: You know, you watch things going downhill and then at some point we may just straighten up and say, “Enough is enough, we have to turn things around,” and then they take the leadership.
Anne: With Haiti what we’ve been able to do in the first Global Ambassadors Program, is to bring women from politics, from government, from business—not just from the United States but from around the globe who can demonstrate their own skill and to work with these women to create a framework--something that is tangible, something that is well-thought out, and something that will move the ball forward.
Super: Barbara Guillaume
Artist/Activist
Haiti
Subtitle: This is a project by women for the community; A project by women for the country; It’s a project by all women for Haiti.
Super: Susan Davis
Chair of the Board
Vital Voices Global Partnership
Susan: It’s no longer just about the philanthropy, about charity. It’s really about women as a solution.
Super: Candace Browning
Head of Global Research
Bank of America
Candace: I think one of the reasons that this program is so important and potentially so powerful is because we as a company believe that strong leadership can really impact and change communities in a positive way and we want to be part of that change and that economic growth and that development of opportunity.
Barbara: And you’re gonna see the change. You’re gonna to see it because if we accept that this gonna be our project, it is our baby, you know, we’re gonna feed it. And then, together, we can really have something for the future of our children, for the future of this country.
Title: Over the next five years, Global Ambassadors will be mobilized to reach thousands of women leaders transforming our world.
