More Optimistic, More Confident in 2013

2012 was a period of stabilisation. In 2013 and beyond we’re going to see a mild period of expansion. On the one hand, investors looking to increase risk exposure across the board and in particularly in equities, something we haven’t seen for some time.
Secondly, that corporate leaders are beginning to adopt a more positive and more optimistic posture, not perhaps to levels pre-crisis, but certainly more optimistic and more confident than we’ve seen for some time.
Finally I think also a number of the macro economic factors that have been troubling us over the last several years have receded. The more favourable macro environment is certainly positive for the investment banking business, and I would expect as a result 2013 to see significantly higher levels of activity than 2012.
