Hard at Work in Connecticut
Bank of America began serving Connecticut more than 200 years ago. In 1792, the Hartford Bank was the first bank to receive a state charter. Over time, the Hartford Bank played a vital role in developing the Connecticut River Valley and establishing the state as a major insurance center. The Hartford Bank received a national charter in 1865 and eventually became part of FleetBoston. Bank of America acquired FleetBoston in 2004. Today, Bank of America is one of the nation’s largest financial institutions and provides services to half of all American households.
